Empress TheatreThe Empress Theatre has been the cultural centre of NDG dating back to the 1920's. In the late 1990's a fire swept through the building, requiring renovations to the facility which have not been effected. Several groups have come to the fore of late, with plans to renovate the theatre and return it to its previous glory, most notably that of Camille Bedard and her group. The theatre will not only be renovated, it will be totally reconstructed, establishing it as one of the premiere theatres in the world, in the genre of La Scala in Milan and Sydney Opera House in Australia.
